Importing bulk towels is straightforward once the paperwork questions are answered up front. The mistakes that cost buyers money are usually duty assumptions, label content and documents — not the towel itself.
What UK and European Buyers Should Settle First
Commodity Code
Cotton terry towels are generally classified under HS heading 6302. Confirm the exact code for your product with your customs broker.
Duty & Origin Treatment
Depends on current trade rules for Pakistan-origin goods. Check the official tariff, not a supplier’s website.
Fibre Labelling
Textile products sold in the UK and EU need fibre-composition labelling. Give the label wording in your specification.
Test Requirements
If you need a particular test report or standard, state it in the RFQ so feasibility is confirmed first.
Shipping Terms
Agree who arranges freight and insurance, and to which port, before comparing prices.
Documents
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and, where a preference is claimed, proof of origin.
Delivery Phasing
Single delivery or staged shipments to match laundry capacity and storage.
Wash Performance
Specify the wash process the towels will see, and test the sample against it.
Duty and Origin: Check the Official Source
Preferential tariff treatment for goods from Pakistan has depended on trade schemes that change over time. Before pricing landed cost, check the current duty for your commodity code and country of origin on the official tariff service — the UK Trade Tariff for Great Britain, or the EU’s tariff database for EU member states.
Comparing ex-works prices across suppliers without the duty line. Two quotes can look different by a few cents per towel and be reversed once duty, freight and origin documents are included. Ask each supplier which terms the price assumes.
How Cotelle Works With UK and European Buyers
Cotelle handles the specification, sample approval, bulk production against the approved sample, quality control and shipment, and provides the commercial documents your broker needs. Customs clearance in the destination country is normally handled by the importer or its customs broker. Start with the RFQ checklist so the quotation covers everything above.
